|My colleague said I'm too young to be visiting places like this! I went to Zhouyuan in Lishui over the weekend while the weather was nice. It's a bit out of the way, about 1.5 hours' drive from Yangzhou. As soon as I entered the garden, it was like time slowed down. Every brick and tile exudes a sense of history and culture. It's no wonder it's known as the "Forbidden City of the South." The garden is a wonderful combination of Buddhist culture and Huizhou architecture. Zhouyuan is home to a wide range of ancient cultural artifacts, including stone carvings, wood carvings, jade carvings, ancient beds, classical furniture, Buddha statues, and murals.
