Today, reading these lyrics, they still feel vivid and fitting. In early April, when we visited Mochou Lake, we encountered weather that was intermittently overcast and rainy. The lakeshore was adorned with competing flowers and willows swaying gently, and the vast lake surface was undisturbed. No wonder 'Mochou in the misty rain' is ranked first among the forty-eight scenic spots of Jinling, truly living up to its reputation. Famous attractions in Mochou Lake Park also include Shengqi Tower, Huayan An, Yukin Hall, Mochou Shuiyuan, Qiwen Pavilion, and the tombs of the fallen soldiers of the Yue Army. Speaking of Shengqi Tower, one must tell the story of Xu Da and Zhu Yuanzhang playing chess. It is said that Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, often played chess with Xu Da, the King of Zhongshan, here. Although Xu Da was highly skilled, he always lost on purpose. Zhu Yuanzhang, knowing that Xu Da was letting him win, insisted that he play seriously. In the end, Xu Da arranged the pieces to form the characters for 'long live,' and although Zhu Yuanzhang lost the game, he was very pleased and bestowed the tower to Xu Da, hence the name 'Shengqi Tower.' Shengqi Tower was destroyed in war but was rebuilt in 1871 and renovated again in 1953. This two-story Xieshan-style brick and wood structure brings a sense of historical and cultural depth and an elegant simplicity to the park. Mochou Lake is named after a woman named Mochou who once lived on its shore. Mochou Shuiyuan is one of the favorite photography spots for enthusiasts. At that time, many elders with professional cameras were taking turns shooting from the same spot.
