Laoshan Forest Park in Pukou, Nanjing

Laoshan is one of the famous mountains in Nanjing, with its mountain range originally formed during the Sinian period, as a branch of the Huaiyang mountain range. The forest coverage rate exceeds 95%. Laoshan is known as the 'Green Lung of Nanjing' and the 'Pearl of North of the Yangtze River', with a rich content of negative oxygen ions in the air. It serves as a habitat for birds such as egrets and herons, and is the largest domestication base for the Azure-winged Magpie in China, as well as a breeding base for fine tree species and an important timber forest base in Jiangsu Province. Nanjing Laoshan National Forest Park is the largest national forest park in Jiangsu, a base for science education and environmental education in Jiangsu Province. Within the park, there are cultural relics and historic sites such as the Doulv Temple and Qifo Temple, and it boasts a rich variety of animal and plant resources, integrating natural and cultural landscapes into one scenic area.
