Confucius Temple, you really know how to enjoy yourself!

Confucius Temple - Qinhuai River is one of the earliest 5A-level tourist attractions in China. In the past, tourists from other places who came to Nanjing would usually visit the Confucius Temple. Indeed, this scenic area has done a great job in cultural tourism, with numerous historical sites and a rich variety of recreational projects. The history of the Qinhuai Lantern Festival can be traced back to the Southern Dynasties period. At that time, the capital Jiankang (today's Nanjing) had the custom of holding traditional Lantern Festivals during the Lantern Festival. The 'History of the Southern Dynasties' describes the grandeur of the Lantern Festival in Jiankang: 'Tens of thousands of lanterns were gathered, like a galaxy illuminating the streets, with crowds surging and no space left in the wide courtyards.' This is the earliest record of a lantern festival in China. Now, on the west side of the Confucius Temple, the Qinhuai Theater has been built. Qinhuai Theater is a new immersive commercial and tourism complex that integrates performing arts, leisure and entertainment, retail, dining, and hotels. It is adjacent to the Nanjing Imperial Examination Museum of China (Jiangnan Gongyuan). This place was built on the site of the original cinema. The current project concept is derived from an ancient Ming Dynasty painting - 'Shangyuan Lantern Festival Picture', which delicately depicts the lively scenes of Nanjing people buying lanterns, strolling through the bustling market, and watching grand operas at the Confucius Temple Pedestrian Street.
