Practical Guide to Nanchang's Hidden Gems, Personally Tested to Help You Avoid Pitfalls

🌈Just got back from Nanchang with friends, and our leisure trip was quite nice. The attractions in Nanchang are fairly concentrated, with 🚩August 1st Square, 🚩Wanshou Palace, 🚩Tengwang Pavilion, and 🚩Qiushui Square all along one route. Tengwang Pavilion is super cool😎, the night view over the river is beautiful🌉, the food is very spicy🌶🌶, and overall it's worth visiting. Below is a record of our trip for anyone interested in going. -------------------------- ⛺【Attractions】: 🎐Day One: 👣Jiangxi Art Museum, the square across from it is perfect for photos! 👣Took photos at the August 1st Square Monument. 👣Explored Wanshou Palace Food Street, with many photogenic spots that are perfect for ladies who love taking pictures. 👣Browsed Jewelry Street, honestly the snacks there are similar to those found nationwide. We randomly tried some mung bean cakes, which were delicious and crispy; The Satay Pork Tenderloin was excellent, very tender, but if you're worried about it being too rich, two people can share one portion (🤭which is what we did) 👣Visited Tengwang Pavilion, and here's the key point: we paid for tickets, which cost fifty yuan. To be honest, the experience was just okay. You can actually take beautiful photos from outside the north entrance. 💥Important note💥: The cruise ship 🚢 we decided to take last minute was quite nice: we bought tickets from a livestream for 318 yuan for two people. The light show was truly beautiful, reflecting on the river surface, very photogenic! After the light show, we returned to the cabin to watch the "Pipa Performance," which was amazing. The dancing ladies were gorgeous 😍, "Bai Juyi" was quite funny, and the trip was almost over after the performance ended. The entire experience lasted 50 minutes and wasn't boring at all. Highly recommended if you have the budget. Make sure to choose the cruise with the "Pipa Performance." ❗PS: There are three sailing times, 👉19:05, 👉20:05, and 👉21:05, I believe. ❗I recommend the 20:05 cruise when it's completely dark, as the light show effect is better, and it doesn't end too late, perfect for those who don't like staying up late~ 🎐Day Two: 👣Visited Jiangxi Provincial Museum, which can take an entire morning to explore. I suggest going in the morning when it's less crowded. (When leaving, ask the traffic officers where to get a taxi, as that section of road is restricted, and we spent ages trying to find a suitable spot for ride-hailing apps 🤣) 👣After the museum, we headed to a restaurant, but due to the heat, we went straight to Wanda Mall for food. We ate at a place called "Blue Edge Bowl," which I would avoid. 🤔We ordered crab leg rice noodles and braised chicken feet, but couldn't reduce the spiciness 😥. All we could taste was spice, and the chicken feet weren't properly deboned 😂. 🤔They claimed they couldn't reduce the spiciness, which makes me wonder if the food was pre-made rather than freshly prepared. 🤔The service wasn't great either. Despite being known as the "King of Queues," it didn't live up to its reputation. Since we felt tired from walking so much these two days, after eating we found a place for a massage, 👣Then we went to Qiushui Square to see the free musical fountain show, which is worth visiting. Performance time: 19:30-19:45 in the evening This is also a great spot to photograph Nanchang's Twin Towers, and after taking photos, you can wait for the fountain show. ❗PS: I don't recommend sitting on the steps in the front row. The view is better from the stairs further back, but if you have children, the front row is good as there's a light mist that feels refreshing in hot weather. 🛬【Travel Guide】: Based on my experience, here's a suggested itinerary 🌈Day One: After arrival, start at August 1st Square. Follow subway line 1. Art Museum photo op 👉 August 1st Memorial Hall 👉 Wanshou Palace 👉 Jewelry Street 👉 Tengwang Pavilion 👉 Pipa Performance River Cruise 👉 Return to hotel 🌈Day Two: Jiangxi Provincial Museum 👉 Nanchang Star 👉 Twin Towers 👉 Qiushui Square light show 👉 Find food and return to hotel 🌈Day Three: Haihunhou Museum 👉 Free exploration 👉 Time to head home~ 🏨【Accommodation Tips】: I recommend staying near August 1st Square for convenience, or if possible, at a hotel near Tengwang Pavilion for the beautiful night river view, NICE! 🎉【About Food】 🌺: Nanchang mixed rice noodles are delicious, and century egg meat pie soup is very tasty, but you don't need to go to trendy restaurants - any place will do. 🌺Jiangxi cuisine is very spicy, so for the sake of your stomach, try in moderation. 🌺"Xiao Shimei Nanchang Local Cuisine" near August 1st Building is pretty good, with delicious sweet ribs. 🧡【Tips】: ❗The art museum and provincial museum are free, but require advance reservations. Make sure to book ahead and bring your ID card for entry. ❗Get a subway pass on Alipay for convenient travel. There's a lot of road construction, so the subway is recommended. Finally, Nanchang is nice, but personally I think it's better to rest during the day and go out at night 🤭. Visit museums during the day and enjoy the nightlife in the evening~
