Huakhueng Temple, Nan Province

Wat Hua Khwang, Nan Province This is an important temple in Nan Province. It has a chapel and a pagoda in the local Lanna art style. The chapel is a gable-shaped building, with a gable decorated with intricate and beautiful wood carvings of plants. The door and window arches are decorated with stucco designs in the shape of mustard leaves, which is a Western art style. This is a temple made by craftsmen from Nan Province with its own unique identity. The old Ho Trai is a rectangular building with a four-sided roof. The foundation is solid and the pulpit is square with a carved gourd-shaped top. It is lacquered, gilded, and decorated with glass. It is a place to store Tripitaka and ancient scriptures that are many years old. The pagoda at Wat Hua Khwang is a pagoda in the shape of a castle in Lanna art. The lower base is made of a square board, supporting a lotus pedestal with two levels, with a front level and a middle board. The upper level of the lotus pedestal is recessed to support the chedi chamber, reaching the lotus pedestal below the bell. The chedi chamber has a Charanam niche on each side. Bronze Buddha images in the Mara-Vijaya attitude are enshrined at the corners of both walls. It is made in the shape of a goddess in traditional costume, standing with her hands together in prayer. Above the sunset tier at the end of the chedi chamber is a three-tiered lotus tier.
