If you go to Magome-juku, be sure to try the chestnut rice!

The other day, I visited Nakatsugawa City in Gifu Prefecture, and decided to make a detour to Magome-juku, which I had been curious about. Magome-juku is a post town on the Nakasendo road, and is a scenic spot where the old streetscape remains intact among the mountains. There are many foods made with chestnuts, a specialty of Nakatsugawa City, on sale, and the chestnut steamed rice is particularly recommended. The incredibly sweet chestnuts go perfectly with salty glutinous rice.
