[Fukuoka] World Heritage Site Onga River Source Pumping Station that supported Japan's Industrial Revolution

#Spring0yenTrip The Onga River Water Source Pumping Station is an active water supply facility located in Nakama City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2015 as part of the "Meiji Industrial Revolution Heritage Sites of Japan". Built in 1910, it initially used coal boilers and steam pumps, but was switched to electric motors in 1950 and continues to supply water to the Yawata Steel Works today. The building is made of red bricks in the English style and features round windows and continuous semicircular arch windows. The interior is not open to the public, but the exterior can be viewed, and a guide was in a nearby prefabricated building to talk to us. It is about a 15-minute walk from the nearby Chikuzen-Kakio Station. This facility is an important heritage that supported the industrial development of modern Japan, and it is impressive that it still plays its role today.
