Nagoya Port Aquarium

A must-visit attraction when traveling to Nagoya is the famous Nagoya Port Aquarium. It's a place where both adults and children can have fun together. It's very convenient to get there, taking less than 30 minutes by train from Nagoya Station. The aquarium is divided into the South Building and the North Building, showcasing up to 500 species of marine life from around the world. The theme of the South Building is 'Antarctic Journey,' while the North Building's theme is 'A Journey of 3.5 Billion Years ~ Animals Returning to the Sea.' The Nagoya Port Aquarium features a giant pool that is 60 meters long, 30 meters wide, and has a maximum depth of 12 meters. Dolphin shows and killer whale training sessions are held here, providing enough space for the dolphins and killer whales to swim freely and showcase their incredible speed and power. In 2007, the Nagoya Port Aquarium renovated its Kuroshio Tank and added a large number of sardines. The sardines move in schools like a tornado when fed, combined with lighting effects, creating a spectacular show. Since then, the sardine light show has become famous throughout Japan. Penguins are also a major highlight at the Nagoya Port Aquarium. The South Building has a penguin tank maintained at minus 2 degrees Celsius, housing species such as Adélie penguins, Emperor penguins, Gentoo penguins, and Antarctic penguins.
