Arimatsu-cho is a collective name for the area that includes Arimatsu, where the old streetscape along the Tokaido Road remains, and Okehazama, where the Battle of Okehazama took place during the Sengoku period. The old-fashioned streetscape has been designated as a nationally important traditional buildings preservation district, making it a town with a deep sense of history and tradition. Along the Tokaido road in Arimatsu, there are still many traditional buildings such as Japanese tile roofs with utensils, nurigome-zukuri, and mushiko-mado windows.
