Atsuta Shrine

Atsuta Shrine's history can be traced back to over 2,000 years ago, as recorded in Japan's oldest chronicle, the Kojiki. With a long history, the shrine covers an area of about 200,000 square meters, centered around the main shrine and auxiliary shrines. There are also 18 branch shrines and 8 associate shrines, making it one of Japan's largest Shinto shrines. The shrine's treasury houses a rich collection of over 4,000 treasures, including sacred garments, masks, and swords, among which are national treasures. One of the three great imperial regalia of Japan, the Kusanagi Sword, is also kept here, although it has never been displayed. Moreover, the shrine hosts numerous festivals and ritual events, with about 70 different occasions throughout the year, offering a valuable opportunity to experience Japan's ancient and rare ceremonial activities.
