Around the 13th-16th Buddhist century, there were 25 Dvaravati-era pagodas in the city and outside the city (10 have been excavated). The rulers of Nakhon Champasri City, starting from King Yosawanrat Built places of worship for Brahman and Buddhist ceremonies, such as temples, prang ku, etc., which are considered to have flourished in terms of religion, culture, and governance to the utmost, then declined until the end of the era of King Fa Ngum Laeng La Thorani. In 1979, the Fine Arts Department and the people of Na Dun Subdistrict excavated the relics of the Lord Buddha from the mound that was an ancient ruin in the rice field of Mr. Thongdee Pawaputa, a resident of Ban Na Dun, Village No. 1, Na Dun Subdistrict, Na Dun District, Maha Sarakham Province. Many types of Buddha amulets were found. The excavation discovered a stupa of the relics resembling glass flakes in a three-tiered box, the inner layer made of gold, the middle layer made of silver, and the outer layer made of bronze, with chants placed one on top of the other in sequence. and enshrined in another layer of a replica stupa, a circular metal stupa 24.4 centimeters high, separated into 2 parts, the top 12.3 centimeters high, the body of the stupa 12.1 centimeters high. In addition, on the back of some of the Buddha amulets there are inscriptions in ancient Khmer and ancient Mon languages, which are very much inscribed by the people of Maha Sarakham Province. It is appropriate to build a stupa to enshrine them permanently and firmly, as a place of worship and auspiciousness for this region going forward.
