Montego Bay is a city on the northwest coast of Jamaica. It is located on the shores of Montego Bay. With a population of 120,000, it is the second largest city in Jamaica. The name Montego Bay is derived from the Spanish word "Manteca" (meaning "lard"). In the past, it was a port for loading and unloading butter and lard. Originally an Indian village, Columbus landed here in 1494 and visited the local Arawak Indian tribe. It became a colony after 1655 and a holiday destination in the 20th century. It is also the hometown of Usain Bolt. It is said that the restaurant we visited was opened by him. There is a statue of Bolt at the entrance, and many of his personal belongings are displayed inside the restaurant. The beautiful white sandy beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, making it a great place for a vacation. European and American tourists often come here to enjoy water sports and golf, making it a world-renowned Caribbean leisure and vacation destination. The city stretches 32 km along the coast and is an important commercial center and port. It exports sugar, coffee, and tropical fruits. With mountains and water, plenty of sunshine, and a pleasant climate, it is a famous tourist city. The white sandy beaches along the coast are home to seaside resorts, luxury hotels, and villas. There is an "underwater coral park" where visitors can take a glass-bottomed boat to see the coral. There are also old buildings such as churches, city halls, and castles. The railway connects to the capital, Kingston, and there is an international airport to the north of the city.
