Molde, Møre Romsdal County, Norway

Molde is a city in Møre-Lømsdal county, Norway. The city is located on the Molde Fjord and the Molde River. It is the largest city and commercial center in the Lømsdal region and the administrative center of Molde City and Møre-Lømsdal County. The Church of Norway's Diocese of Molde is also based in Molde Cathedral. Molde is an old settlement that became a trading post in the late Middle Ages. Formal trading rights as a shipping port were granted in 1614, and town status was established by royal charter in 1742. Molde Municipality was established on 1 January 1838. Molde continued to develop throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, becoming the centre of Norway's textile and clothing industry, as well as the region's administrative centre and a major tourist destination, passing through the Atlantic Coast Road.
