Milan Cathedral

As soon as you exit the subway station, you are greeted by the magnificent and ornate structure of Milan's iconic landmark, the Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano). This cathedral, a blend of Gothic and Lombard Romanesque styles, began construction in 1386 and took five centuries to complete. Built primarily from pinkish-white marble, it features thousands of sculptures and spires. Standing approximately 108 meters tall, its main spire is crowned with a golden statue of the Virgin Mary, known as Madonnina. Visitors can ascend to the cathedral's terrace to enjoy panoramic views of Milan and the distant mountains. The cathedral can accommodate up to 40,000 people.
