#myhiddengems Standing atop the cliffs of Meteora, the mountain views took my breath away! 🌄 Nestled in central Greece near the town of Kalambaka, Meteora offers one of the most stunning landscapes I’ve ever seen. The sheer cliffs, topped with ancient monasteries, give way to panoramic views of the Pindus Mountains and the vast Thessalian plain below. It’s a feeling of being on the edge of the world, surrounded by natural beauty and centuries of history. There’s no entrance fee to wander around the cliffs, but visiting the monasteries costs around €3 each, which is totally worth it for the vistas alone. 🏰 The hike to the top was a bit of a workout, especially with the winding steps and rocky paths, but each step revealed a more magnificent view. The sunset from these heights was magical, painting the mountains in shades of orange and pink. 🌅 I highly recommend starting early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds and heat. There’s something incredibly peaceful about watching the fog lift over the mountains, revealing the dramatic peaks and valleys below. Nearby, Kalambaka and the village of Kastraki offer great spots to grab a coffee or traditional Greek food after a day of hiking. 🥙 I loved exploring the narrow streets and enjoying a quiet moment with a Greek salad and some baklava. Don't miss out on exploring some of the smaller monasteries, each offering unique perspectives of the mountains and a sense of tranquility.
