To be honest, there are indeed few tourists in Mexico, and the main cathedral in the capital has almost no tourists, all are locals. The Merida Cathedral, located in the center of the historical center, is a sight not to be missed while strolling through the city. It is not only very ornate, but its history dates back to the 1500s. If you have reached the Merida Cathedral, you can easily head to the Grand Plaza (right outside). Now, the plaza itself is one of the busiest areas in the center of Merida, making it a great place for a walking exploration. The Merida Maya World Museum has an admission fee (about 10 dollars) and is a center for displaying Mayan culture and history, which is worth a visit.
