Sichuan | A hidden paradise above the cliffs of Gulou Village

Gulou Village, also known as Gulu Village , was selected on October 25, 2019, as part of the second batch of 'Sichuan's Most Beautiful Ancient Villages' list. It is located on the cliffs of the He River Grand Canyon . The only path to reach Gulou Village starts with a hike from 'One Line Sky', a trail that is quite rugged and steep, offering spectacular views. During the construction of the Chengkun Railway in the 1960s, the engineering team saw villagers swinging back and forth on the cliffs, so they welded a series of steel ladders at the 'One Line Sky' , ending the history of villagers 'swinging' on vines to commute. In 2003, the government funded and the villagers contributed labor to carve out a road on the cliff face. This road, only a few dozen centimeters wide, is called by them the 'big road', and some also refer to it as the mule and horse path. On the way to Gulou Village, you can enjoy the scenery of the Dadu River Grand Canyon and visit the Railway Soldiers Museum along the way. Suitable for hiking beginners, it is also a place where you can bring children. There are many checkpoints along the way where you can overlook the canyon landscape from high up, or experience the thrill of the cliffside path . Dadu River Canyon National Geological Park - Gulou Yi Village 🚶🏻‍♂️ The round trip is about 12 kilometers, with an ascent of about 800 meters. It takes around 4 hours. There are supplies along the way, and signal coverage throughout!
