Mauritius

#hellochristmas Mauritius — tropical Indian Ocean island famed for turquoise lagoons, coral reefs, volcanic interior, multicultural cuisine and luxury resorts. Highlights - Beaches & lagoons: Trou aux Biches, Flic en Flac, Le Morne, Belle Mare, Île aux Cerfs — calm snorkeling and swimming inside reef‑protected lagoons. - Water activities: snorkeling, scuba diving, wind/kite‑surfing (Le Morne), deep‑sea fishing, catamaran cruises and glass‑bottom boat tours. - Nature & inland: Black River Gorges National Park (hiking, waterfalls, endemic flora/fauna), Chamarel (Seven Colored Earths, waterfall), Le Morne Brabant (hike, cultural significance), Grand Bassin (Ganga Talao) and botanical gardens (Pamplemousses). - Islands & excursions: Île aux Cerfs, Coin de Mire, Ile aux Aigrettes (conservation reserve) and Rodrigues (remote island with unique culture). - Culture & food: Creole, Indian, Chinese and French influences — curries, seafood, dholl puri, rougaille, street food and rum distilleries. Festivals year‑round (Hindu, Christian, Muslim celebrations). - Luxury & wellness: high‑end resorts, spa retreats, golf courses and boutique guesthouses. Practical tips - Best time: May–December (cooler, drier) ideal; Jan–Mar hotter with cyclone risk (rare but possible). Shoulder months good for fewer crowds. - Getting there: Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Intl (MRU) main airport; direct and connecting flights from Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Transfers/taxis arranged by hotels. - Getting around: rental cars (left‑hand traffic), taxis, buses and private drivers; roads generally good but rural lanes narrow. Boat transfers for outer islands. - Safety: generally safe for tourists—standard precautions with valuables, avoid poorly lit/isolated beaches at night. Use authorized operators for water sports. - Money & language: Mauritian rupee (MUR); English and French widely used, Creole common. Cards accepted at hotels/restaurants; carry cash for market stalls and small vendors. - Health: tap water generally treated but bottled/filtered water often preferred; mosquito repellent in warmer months; sunscreen and hydration important. Travel insurance recommended (water activities). Vaccinations per travel guidance. - Environment & etiquette: respect local customs (modest dress at religious sites), don’t touch coral or disturb marine life, use reef‑safe sunscreen. Support eco‑friendly operators. - Bookings: reserve popular activities (catamaran trips, Le Morne excursions, diving) in high season. Essentials - Time zone: MUT (UTC+4). - Electricity: 230V, Type C/G (check adapter). - Emergency: local emergency numbers — check on arrival. - Tipping: not obligatory but appreciated — small tips for guides, drivers and hotel staff. Quick itinerary ideas - 3–4 days: North & west highlights — Pamplemousses Garden → Port Louis market → Île aux Cerfs or catamaran day → sunset at Le Morne. - 5–7 days: include Black River Gorges & Chamarel day trip, scuba/snorkel days, sugar‑plantation/rum distillery visit and relaxation at a beach resort. - Active trip: kite/wind‑surf at Le Morne, hiking Le Morne Brabant, waterfall/river hikes in Black River Gorges and offshore diving. Concise packing tips - Swimwear, reef‑safe sunscreen, light breathable layers, sun hat, water shoes, snorkel gear (optional), insect repellent, basic first‑aid, travel adaptor and lightweight rain layer for showers. #mauritius #lemorne #ÎleAuxCerfs #chamarel #blackrivergorges #ileauxcerfs

✈️On the double-decker Airbus A380... After 36 hours of tossing, we arrived safely! Let's start the beautiful journey in Mauritius... Red Roof Church, Deer Island, Blue Bay. The sea water in different parts of Mauritius has different colors. The most special and unforgettable one is Deer Island. The visibility of the sea water can reach 20 meters deep and the color is like green crystal, crystal clear and beautiful! When sitting on a yacht and snorkeling, I also saw beautiful green fish 🐟. The hotel's floating restaurant on the water is really amazing! It's super romantic, with stars ⭐️🌙 above and fish 🐠 jumping below. If you're lucky, you might even see cute little sharks. The photo can only capture one-tenth of the beauty of Mauritius! Mauritius, Africa
