Sadian Tombs

I waited in line for almost 2 hours to see this. An old palace converted into a tomb, each room is decorated in Moorish and Moroccan style, using imported marble and gold from Italy, and the floor is covered with eye-catching Zellij tiles. The arches of the roof inside each room, if you look up, you will see Islamic architecture called Muqarnas, which looks like a golden honeycomb like a palace. The main room of this tomb is highlighted by the placement of 12 tall white marble colonnades, called the “Hall of the Twelve Pillars”. The bases of the columns are carved in Iranian style, as is the ceiling. The construction and extension have been passed down from generation to generation. In 1603, a wall was built around this tomb to reserve it as a private area. #morocco #marrakech #saadiantombs
