Rizal Shrine at Fort Santiago

#manilatrip The shrine is located in former military barracks that were reconstructed and adopted to serve as a museum in 1953. Most revered national hero dr Jose Rizal spent his last days imprisoned there before his public execution on December 29, 1896. The museum showcases Jose Rizal’s prison cell, his trial room. Among the exhibits are the alcohol stove in which he hid his poem Mi ultimo adios, his vertebrae (where the bullet hit him), his coat, hat, case and more. Worth visiting. The entrance is free once you are in Fort Santiago.
