Mandalay, the last capital of Burma

Mandalay (Burmese: မန္တလေး, [màɴdəlé]) is the former capital and second largest city of Burma after Yangon. It is located in Mandalay Region, on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwady River, 716 kilometres north of Yangon. It was founded in 1857 by King Mindon, and named after the nearby Mandalay Hill. Mandalay Palace was the residence of King Mindon and King Thibaw, the country's last two monarchs. The palace ceased to be a royal residence and seat of government on 28 November 1885, during the Third Anglo–Burmese War. #Burma #Mandalay
