Another kind of surprise on the journey: check-in at the Mandalay market in Myanmar.

🔅I don't know if you're like me, when traveling to a city, besides sightseeing and visiting cultural relics, you also like to stroll around the local market. I've always felt that the market is one of the best places to get to know a city. 🔅If museums are for understanding a city's history, then in my opinion, the market is for getting to know the most basic living conditions of the city at present. Here you can see the workers who struggle for a living, here you can see the residents who prepare for three meals a day, and here you can also feel the bargaining atmosphere of daily life. 🔅During the trip to the vegetable market in Mandalay, Myanmar, the vegetable market left a deep impression on me. Before departure, a friend warned me that Myanmar is dangerous and not to go to crowded and noisy places, especially areas like vegetable markets. 🔅However, for someone like me who loves the market, I wouldn't miss such a good opportunity. So I got up early for two consecutive days and went to the large market near the hotel. It's more like a large bazaar than a vegetable market. In addition to selling vegetables, there are various goods and snack shops here. 🔅The market in Mandalay looks a bit old-fashioned, mainly divided into two areas. The well-planned area is the slum area, where the goods sold are relatively high-end. The other area is a temporary area where goods are sold randomly on both sides of the dirt road. 🔅This temporary area is also my favorite area. It's very noisy here, with crowds of people packed together, but it's also where you can appreciate the most down-to-earth places in Myanmar. 🔅Here you can see the hard work of the porters, the worried stall owners with no customers, and the women still selling goods while carrying their children. Of course, the most impressive impression is that Burmese people especially like to carry heavy objects on their heads, such as a bunch of flowers, a bag of vegetables, or a bag of rice. 🔅Such market experiences are not uncommon in my travels. Although they may not offer as many attractions as conventional tourist spots, they are still the best places to get a down-to-earth feel for a city. What about you? Do you like to visit local markets when you travel?
