Inside, I wandered through halls of steam engines, textile machines, and early computers—reminders that this city powered the Industrial Revolution and helped shape the modern world. As the sun began to dip, I headed to Chinatown, marked by the vibrant paifang arch on Faulkner Street. The scent of roast duck and fresh noodles filled the air, and neon signs lit up cozy restaurants and bakeries. I ended the day with a warm bowl of hand-pulled noodles, surrounded by the familiar buzz of voices in Mandarin and Cantonese. From Manchester’s academic roots, to its industrial legacy, and the flavors of its global community, this city walk was a beautiful mix of history, innovation, and culture—woven together in true Mancunian style.
