Urumqi's Lesser-Known Scenic Spot - Kensiwater Reservoir.

A lake exists atop a high mountain. Standing by the roadside, even if you crane your neck, you can't see its graceful figure. Only by climbing and crossing the steep peaks can the mysterious green lake leap into your eyes. Kensiwater Lake, like a winding, slender jade, quietly flows among the blooming mountains, clear and serene, green and pure. Since the beginning of spring, Kensiwater Reservoir has become a popular route for hikers from Urumqi and Shihezi. Kensiwater Reservoir is about 140 kilometers from Urumqi, mostly via highway. Hikers take a bus to the vicinity of the reservoir and then walk 10 to 15 kilometers to reach it. The scenery along the way is beautiful, with blue skies, clear waters, snow-capped mountains, Danxia landforms, and flowers catching the eye. Hikers enjoy the scenery and take photos as they walk, feeling very relaxed! This place is like a freshly completed oil painting. The colors are rich yet naturally fresh, with peaks, lakes, canyons, trees... The upper reaches of the Manas River, Kensiwater, formed a high mountain lake due to the construction of a water conservancy dam. The Manas River water gathers to form a lake, winding through the mountains, twisting and turning with no end in sight. The river water is pure green, calm as a mirror. Climbing high and looking far, one feels refreshed and delighted.
