Mecca, a pilgrimage site for one of the three major religions 📒Preparation ✔️Planning: The official Visit Saudi website not only allows you to apply for an e-visa online, but also provides a wealth of information on destinations and food (I planned my itinerary using the official website and Google Maps, which were very useful. I recommend using Trip.com to book hotels. I decided to go a week before departure, so I was in a rush to prepare. I booked hotels in popular areas (Mecca and Medina) in advance, and left some room for flexibility in other areas.) ✔️Visa: Saudi Arabia offers e-visas and visas on arrival (remember to select "pilgrimage" in the visa options) ✔️Driver's license: English translation of your driver's license (🍑 is fine) ✔️Apps: Google Maps, Nusuk, Experience AlUla, My Table ✔️Sun protection: The sun is very strong, so remember to bring physical sun protection, sunscreen, and sunglasses ✔️💳: A bank card that can be used to withdraw cash overseas (preferably one with no fees) and a foreign currency credit card (preferably a chip card, which is safer) ✔️🧕: Women can bring a thin silk scarf, or buy one locally (I only wore a headscarf in Mecca and Medina, and didn't have any problems in other cities. However, you must wear one to enter a mosque, so it's best to have one with you at all times.) ✔️Travel time: Avoid summer, the Hajj, and Ramadan (for regular travelers) ✔️Remember: Respect local customs
