Former Kitasui Water

Former Kitasui Water Purification Plant Facility This facility, located at 509 Kitasui, Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, was built to secure large amounts of water for ships built in 1901. It is usually closed to the public, but there is a paid tour once a day on weekends and holidays, with reservations made at least five days in advance. From JR Higashi-Maizuru Station, it is a 35-minute walk. When you see the footbridge in front of the Self-Defense Force Pier bus stop on National Route 27 coming from the station, there is a road on the left that leads into the mountains just before that, so start from there. There is no sign at the entrance, but you can go up anytime. There are no street lights until you reach the top, so you will need a flashlight at night.
