Wat Chedi Luang, Chiang Rai Province or Wat Phra That Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Chao Ton Luang is an ancient temple in Chiang Saen District. Built by King Saen Phu, it is an important temple of Hiran Nakhon Ngoen Yang, Lanna Kingdom. The name of the temple, Chedi Luang, is believed to have come from "Phra That Chedi Luang", a large chedi that is 88 meters high and has a base that is 24 meters wide. Chiang Saen National Museum is classified as a branch of the National Museum of Archeology. Exhibits focus on archeology and art history, related to the establishment of a community from the beginning of the prehistoric period to the historical period. Chiang Saen National Museum was established in 1957 and is a 50-year-old museum considered to provide a profound preview of the past of Chiang Saen town. The Museum features displays of excavated artefacts and ancient sculptures with inscriptions, locally made Chiang Saen-style. Buddha images and Lanna Thai artefacts. Other exhibits include Lanna-style objects of daily use such as pots, weapons, baskets, fish traps, fish nets and cooking vessels.
