Experience the Hutongs in Beijing

If you decided to visit Beijing, never miss to take a walk or rent a rickshaw ride in the Hutongs. It's a worthy experience you won't regret. You will have an insight into the real and most traditional culture of old Beijingers. What's this Hutong you say? Hutong is the name given to a narrow lane, alley, or small street between rows of single-storey Siheyuan (Courtyards) dwelled by Beijingers in the past. When viewed from the air the interlaced lanes resemble a maze or a chessboard with delicate gardens, fine rockeries and ancient ruins which makes them a wonder in the world. During my last trip to Beijing, I get to take long walks and at some point a rickshaw ride in between in few of the most visited Hutongs in Beijing. These Hutongs are heaven for photographers, travel content creators, and tourist alike. Not only the locals love the Hutongs, tourists also love them. There are shops and restaurants in most of the Hutongs too, so expect a foodie trip in between. Of the more than 1,000 alleys left, there are ten most distinctive ones. Some of them are famous for the old-style buildings, while some house many traditional and time-honored workshops. Walking along the crisscrossing lanes, you will definitely immerse in the peaceful atmosphere. -Nanluoguxiang (South Gong and Drum Lane) -Yandaixie Street (Yandai Xiejie) -Mao'er Hutong -Guozijian Street -Liulichang Cultural Street -Jinyu Hutong -Dongjiaomin Lane (Dongjiaomin Xiang) -Xijiaomin Lane (Xijiaomin Xiang) -Ju'er Hutong -Bada Hutong You might not have to go to all of the Hutongs, visiting a few of them is enough to experience that real culture of Beijing. Me and my bestfriend went to 4 Hutongs (Nanluoguxiang, Yandaixie, Guozijian Street, and Dongjiaomin Lane) when we're in Beijing. Each has its own perks. How to get to these Hutongs? Shichahai and Dashilar are two areas where Hutongs are mostly located. Visitors can take subway line 8 to Shichahai or subway line 2 or line 7 to Dashilar. Optional: You can hire a rickshaw to guide you to tour around nearby Hutongs as most of them are closely connected. #newyearadventure#tripblazers#foodie#urbanexplorer#awesomepic#passionpassport#celebratewithtrip#bucketlistreboot
