Fortaleza do Monte

Fortaleza do Monte was built in 1622 and was designated as a military restricted area. It was only open to the public on August 5th for the Feast of Our Lady and on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month for the Double Ninth Festival. In 1976, the Portuguese military withdrew from Macau, and the fort was turned into a tourist attraction. The Chapel of Our Lady of Snow inside the fort was built around 1622 and is dedicated to Our Lady of Snow. The murals in the chapel depict biblical stories and figures using Chinese painting techniques, creating a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures and art. This feature is unique among the many churches in the region. From Fortaleza do Monte, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Macau Peninsula. It is a must-visit attraction for tourists, highly recommended.
