The lesser-known Coloane Village of Ka Ho in Macau

Once a leprosarium that instilled fear in many, it has transformed into a hidden gem for check-ins. Before the land reclamation and the construction of the Hac Sa Wan Road, it seemed like an isolated island, accessible only by ferry and then by sampan. In 1963, Father Jacinto to eliminate discrimination against leprosy, renamed this place 'Ka Ho Village of Our Lady'. Ka Ho Village of Our Lady is the only remaining leprosy sanatorium site in Macau. It has now restored the brick houses for photo opportunities and to learn about the past history. It officially opened in early November 2021 after renovation, featuring Italian-style architecture that makes for excellent photography.
