A City like a Museum

Maastricht is such a beautiful and compact city. It has so many things to see and the people are very friendly. The whole town center is a museum. We enjoyed the Markt, the Vrijthof, the, Onze Lieve Plein, the Helpoort, Old City walls, Bishop’s Mill, Aldenhof Park and the Maas River. Right at the start of the trip we went to the Bishop’s and bought Plum Vlaai, chocolate chip cookies and waffles. There is no better way or motivation to start your trip in this manner. Lots of narrow cobblestone streets fronted by higher end boutique-ish stores - too many for the population to support so I asked questions and was generally told that Maastricht is a shopping destination for the Dutch and other Europeans, largely for atmospheric reasons. Nice bars & cafes. Lots of shopping to be done and a very small walkable picturesque centre. Maastricht has something for everyone! #myhiddengems #euro #summerdestinations #europe #maastricht #netherlands #100waysoftravel #singapore
