We flew directly from Shanghai to Male. Although there was a one-hour delay, we were still very excited when we arrived in Male! As soon as we got off the plane, we headed straight to Maafushi Island. Xiao Hei was waiting at the airport holding a hotel sign and took us to the island by speedboat in 40 minutes. We stayed in the beach building of AREA hotel. The room was clean, spacious and well-equipped. Although I wasn't able to stay in a room with a sea view, I didn't mind it too much as I would go out to sea every day. The swimming pool on the tenth floor is under maintenance, which is a bit regrettable. Breakfast is served buffet style opposite the hotel. It is recommended to go early, otherwise flies and crows will "steal food". My favorite is the spicy minced meat wrap, so delicious! The simple lunch we had on an uninhabited sandbar was just average. For dinner, I tried MALADIWA and SULTAN MAHAL on the resident island. The tastes were different, but the fried noodles were quite delicious. I also bought five super cheap refrigerator magnets on the residential island. The owner was super nice and could speak a little Chinese. Later I saw that the same refrigerator magnet was much more expensive at the airport, what a bargain!
