Explore the Mulao Ethnic Group, a mountainous people known as 'Mother'

The Mulao Ethnic Group, a branch of the Baiyue's Western Ou Luo Yue people, is also known as 'Liaozi, Mulou', and they call themselves 'Ling' or 'Bujin', meaning 'Mother'. The Mulao Ethnic Group favors blue in their clothing, with women wearing large-lapel dresses and men wearing symmetrical-lapel tops. During courtship, Mulao youths often exchange songs while walking up slopes, using singing as a medium. They exchange 'dog tongue glutinous rice cakes' and same-year shoes made with a white cloth base and a blue indigo cloth surface as tokens of love. The Yifan Festival is the most solemn traditional festival of the Mulao Ethnic Group, held once every three years, usually after the Start of Winter. During the Spring Festival, there is a custom of 'dancing the grass dragon' from house to house to celebrate the New Year, and children play the 'Phoenix Protecting the Eggs' game. Since the Mulao Ethnic Group has no written language, only spoken, the historical literature of the Mulao Ethnic Group is mainly folk literature, such as myths, legends, poems, stories, operas, etc.
