Tarim Poplar Forest Park

Tarim Poplar Forest National Forest Park is located 70 kilometers south of Luntai County in Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, along the desert highway. It covers a total area of 100 square kilometers. It is the largest, most densely distributed, and best-preserved natural poplar forest in the world, and the only desert poplar forest park. The park was established in 2004 and officially opened to the public in 2005. It is a national 4A-level scenic area and one of China's top ten most beautiful forest parks. The park is divided into three zones: visitor services, sightseeing, and leisure entertainment. The sightseeing area features a 17-kilometer-long road with 126 bends, where visitors can enjoy ancient poplar landscapes along the way; the leisure entertainment area has a 13-kilometer circular tourist railway connecting several forest lakes, allowing visitors to ride a small train to admire green meadows, reed marshes, and other beautiful scenery. The park integrates landscapes of the Tarim River, poplars, desert, and petroleum industry, and is home to protected wild animals such as elk and desert foxes. The best viewing period is from mid-October to early November, when the poplar leaves turn golden and contrast beautifully with the Tarim River, resembling a golden ocean. Popular attractions in the park include the "King of Poplars," a tree over 20 meters tall that requires five people to embrace. Additionally, the park offers camping, travel photography, and other experience projects, and is equipped with a visitor service center and specialty food stalls, allowing visitors to enjoy convenient services while admiring the beautiful scenery. 🕙 Opening Hours: Tickets cost 40 yuan, and the recommended visit duration is 2 to 3 hours.
