At the end of November, I went to Hailuogou for a hot spring soak on the weekend

At the end of the month, on a whim Saturday morning, I decided to go to Western Sichuan and chose the destination of the Glacier Forest in Hailuogou. Driving one way from Chengdu South Gate, it took 3 hours to reach Moxi Ancient Town, just enough time for an afternoon tea. I chose to stay at Jinshan Hotel in the scenic area, where hotel guests can enjoy free hot springs, though you can also pay to soak at Camp 2. The cable car has recently been closed, the scenic area tickets are discounted, and Camp 4 is temporarily inaccessible. In the quiet mountains, you can only hear the sound of rushing water and falling leaves. After arriving on the first day, I went to watch the sunset. On day 2, I got up at 7:30 am and could see the sunrise from the hotel viewing platform. Going to Western Sichuan is really a gamble on the weather, but luckily I won. Recently, Hailuogou is perfect for wandering and relaxing alone, with few people and no noisy commercial promotions. After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, I leisurely walked to the Glacier Tongue and Honggutan, then went to Gongga Temple. This season is not suitable for visiting Caohaizi; I’ll wait until spring to see the rhododendrons.
