The Capel Covered Br

The Capel Covered Bridge is a wooden covered bridge and the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe. It is famous in Lucerne and can be said to be a city card. The bridge is 204 meters long and spans the Royce River. Because there is a St. Peter's Church near the bridge, it is also called the Chapel Bridge. This beautiful covered bridge was built in the 14th century. The earliest bridge was built to protect the town and resist external attacks. There are about 110 paintings on the roof of the bridge in the eaves. When you walk on the bridge, remember to look up and see the exquisite paintings that describe the scene. Most of what they recorded was the city history of Lucerne in the 17th century, including the biography of Lucerne's city guardian sacred Rio Deja and St. Maurice. It is a pity that in 1993, the Kappel Covered Bridge was severely burned by the fire, and these beautiful paintings were also seriously damaged. Although the government has quickly carried out repair work, the damage caused by the fire can still be distinguished by the naked eye.
