Tham Ting, the sacred cave of Luang Prabang

#VisitLaos Tham Ting is a cave located in a large mountain, clearly visible along the Mekong River. It is a cliffside cave, opposite Ban Pak Ou and about 29 kilometers from Luang Prabang. The most convenient way to visit Tham Ting is to take a boat from Luang Prabang, sailing along the Mekong River. The way there will take longer than the way back because the boat will go upstream, taking about 2 hours and 1 hour back. It is recommended to bring some supplies with you because it takes quite a while to travel back and forth to see Tham Ting. There are also no goods for sale along the way. Tham Ting is considered a sacred place. Inside the cave, there are thousands of Buddha images, divided into 2 zones: Tham Ting Upper and Tham Ting Lower. Visiting Tham Ting is similar to other tourist attractions in Laos in that you should prepare your body because most of the tourist attractions are still very natural. Tham Ting was discovered by the French in 1865 and many Buddha images were found inside the cave. In addition, locals have been placing Buddha images here because they believe that they are sacred. Currently, there are more than 4,000 Buddha images inside the cave.
