Tongpu Temple

Wat Tong Pu, Lop Buri Province It is an old Mon temple named "Tong Pu" which comes from the Mon language and means "a place for gathering soldiers before going to war". It is assumed that it was built during the reign of King Narai the Great and was extensively renovated during the Ayutthaya period. The ordination hall and the temple have lotus bases with elephant's belly hanging down. There is a sandstone Buddha image in the Naga Praka meditation posture, Lop Buri art style, around the beginning of the 19th Buddhist century. There are carved wooden pillars to store scriptures in the ordination hall and gold leaf patterns on the doors of the temple, which are the art of the Mon and La people. 📍 Tambon Thale Chupsorn, Mueang District, Lop Buri Province #Travel to save the world
