Royal Ambassador's House or Wichayen House

The Royal Envoy House or Ban Wichayen is located on Wichayen Road, Mueang Lop Buri District, Lop Buri Province, not far from Phra Narai Ratchaniwet. In the past, these beautiful houses were built to accommodate the embassies who came to pay their respects to King Narai the Great in Lop Buri. The first embassy from France that arrived in 1685 stayed here. Later, when a Greek named Constantine Phaulkon entered the service and received merit, he was appointed Chao Phraya Wichayen and granted him a residence on the west side of the Royal Envoy House, which is the origin of the name of the Royal Envoy House or Ban Luang Wichayen. The architecture of some of the Royal Envoy Houses is truly European, especially the large building on the east side, built of brick and mortar, with two floors.
