The Golden Pit — Terraced Rice Paddies in Longji, Guilin

The Golden Pit in Longji, Guilin is the largest terraced fields in the Longji area. Such elaborate terraced fields were the hard work of a few generations of the Yao minority people. Even though we went in early December, which is likely the least beautiful time for photographs, we saw a whole mountain of harvested fields that shimmered in gold under the sun. It was really a wonderful sight, especially knowing that this is the very lifeline of the mountain dwellers.
