A Journey Through Time and Nostalgia

This small funicular railway operates from the center of Locarno and is the most comfortable and romantic way to visit the Sacred Mount of Sasso, as well as the starting point for a charming tour of the Locarno hill region. Riding the beautiful vintage cable car from 1958 is a delightful experience, complete with all its original elements. The control panel, doors that can't be closed, and old seats make the small cable car easily fill up, but it's a fun journey. It takes you to the pilgrimage site of Madonna del Sasso, where you can then stroll along the hillside paths. If you plan to return after visiting the summit, be sure to keep the paper ticket they issue, as the driver will check each ticket individually.
