Liverpool Town Hall

The exterior of Liverpool Town Hall showcases a solemn neoclassical style, with its gray-white Portland stone facade gleaming softly under the sunlight. The building features a symmetrical structure, with a central dome rising to a height of 52 meters. Atop the dome stands a bronze statue of the "Liverpool Goddess," holding a trident and a palm branch, symbolizing maritime tradition and peace. The outer walls are adorned with Corinthian columns and intricate friezes, depicting scenes of Liverpool's bustling port trade and mythological imagery. A wide granite staircase extends from the main entrance, flanked by bronze lion sculptures guarding the entryway. On the eastern side, the building is adjacent to a Victorian-style municipal garden, which is dotted with monuments and war memorial sculptures. Bronze lamp posts and cast-iron railings outline the elegant boundaries of the garden. The northwest corner retains remnants of a wall damaged during World War II bombings, creating a historical dialogue with the restored Baroque-style arched windows. As night falls, golden lights spill through the arched windows, projecting the building's silhouette onto the Roman colonnade of St. George's Hall, forming a magnificent nighttime view of the Victorian architectural ensemble.
