Huanggang Dong Village is indeed a great place to escape the commercial hustle and bustle. If you are tired of the repetitive commercial spots, why not visit this secluded Dong village when you come to Guizhou? This Dong village is located in Shuangjiang Town, Liping County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, and has a history of over 800 years. It is almost untouched by commercial development, and the rich ethnic cultural atmosphere remains strong. Try chatting with the elderly in the village, though most of them do not speak Mandarin. There are 5 drum towers in the village, which are not only iconic buildings but also venues for important events. The village also has a viewing platform, perfect for quietly sitting and daydreaming while overlooking the entire village and watching the smoke rising from the kitchens, creating a unique charm. Transportation: We took a shuttle bus from Congjiang High-Speed Railway Station to Huanggang Dong Village. There are only two round-trip shuttle services daily. The departure times are 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and the return times are 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The journey takes about 1 hour, and the ticket price is 25 yuan per person. After exiting the high-speed rail station, you need to wait at the bus stop in front of the passenger transport station for the shuttle. It is recommended to contact the shuttle driver in advance because this shuttle mainly runs between Zhaoxing Dong Village and Huanggang Dong Village. Without prior contact, the driver may not detour to the high-speed rail station. Dining: The restaurants in the village are mainly concentrated along the main road beside the village history museum, with only two or three options. We went to Huanggang Farmhouse Restaurant, which had good taste and affordable prices; also, Gang Coffee is the only café in the village. Accommodation: We did not stay in the village this time, but from what we saw, the village mainly offers budget homestays, with some higher-end options like Hecang Boutique Stay. Visiting time: It takes about 2-3 hours to explore the village thoroughly. If you take the shuttle bus for a same-day round trip, arriving in the morning and leaving in the afternoon, the time is more than enough. Huanggang Dong Village is perfect for one or two people to quietly stroll around. The tranquility and simplicity here allow you to temporarily leave behind the noise of the outside world.
