The Early Architectural Complex of Lanyi School in Qing'anpu Village, Liling, Hunan

The early architectural complex of Lanyi School is located in Qing'anpu Village, Xianxia Town, Liling City. It was funded and built in 1942 by General Liu Jianxu, then Chairman of the Fujian Provincial Government, and originally served as a private school for the Liu clan. The complex consists of three two-story brick-and-wood buildings and a gatehouse, featuring a classical European architectural style. The school covers a total area of 5,623 square meters. The three buildings are ingeniously arranged in a triangular layout, with one being a majestic two-story auditorium. The front facade is adorned in a European style reminiscent of ancient Roman triumphal arches, exuding grandeur and solemnity, while the prominent inscription "Auditorium" above further highlights its distinguished status. The school ceased operations in 1944 after its buildings were damaged by Japanese forces but resumed in 1946 after repairs. Lanyi School was a modern institution established during the Anti-Japanese War and cultivated numerous talents for the nation. In 1997, Mr. Liu Li, son of General Liu Jianxu, donated funds to renovate the school buildings, which remain in use today. In 2011, the early architectural complex of Lanyi School was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage site in Hunan Province.
