Amazing Lijiang - Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Getting There - There are countless hiking trails in Jade Dragon Snow Mountain at various different levels and this one leading to Jianzhu Campsite is one of the most thrilling trails. The trail starts from Yuhu village and leads all the way up into the deep of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain’s soul. It begins at an elevation of around 3000m and ends at approximately 3800m at the campsite. In the summer you can hike further up gaining around 500m in elevation but during winter it’s not quite possible as the snow is too deep to allow hikers going further up. My buddy and I took advantage of the shelter to rest during the cold night and the cast iron stove inside it to cook our meals and dry our wet clothes and shoes after a challenging snow hike. It was a great experience learning how to use whatever we could lay our hands on up there to survive. And yes we not only survived, we made the best of our trip! I would highly recommend anyone who is into snow hiking to try this trail. You’d really have fun.
