Buhua Inn, a quaint little hideaway tucked inside the ancient city

Truth be told, I've stayed at quite a few distinctive inns. I prefer inns for their warmth, human touch, and closer connection to local life. Many unique and excellent inns linger in memory long after departure, like the Flower Hall in Lijiang's ancient town. In Liaocheng, Shandong, Buhua Inn pleasantly surprised me by evoking a long-lost sense of familiarity. The reception lobby makes striking first impression with its floor-to-ceiling bookshelf wall. Pulling out any book and flipping through a few pages instantly brings tranquility. Reading awhile in the air-conditioned front hall makes the 40°C outdoor heat completely fade away. This appears to be a renovated old residence. Beyond the foyer lies a petite garden furnished with tea tables and sets, where every corner reveals thoughtful details - a vase of dried flowers here, a porcelain piece there. At the courtyard center sits a large water vat blooming with lotuses, surrounded by smaller vats also flowering wherever water exists - absolutely delightful. The door locks feature traditional Chinese design, with interior bolts adding quirky charm. Lattice windows frame views of pink blossoms🌸 outside, creating utterly romantic vignettes when viewed from inside through the patterned panes.
