Back to Leuven, straight to the Town Hall! No hesitation Back on Belgian soil, this time I went straight to Leuven Town Hall! 🇧🇪 This building is an iconic landmark of Leuven, known for its stunning Gothic style, which is simply breathtaking. - First, a little history! Construction of Leuven Town Hall began in 1448 and was completed in 1469 after 21 years of hard work. The architects involved in the design were no ordinary people, such as Matheus de Layens and Jan II Keldermans, who were masters of architecture at the time. Since then, it has been the site of municipal affairs, witnessing the historical changes of Leuven, a "living history"! - In terms of architectural style, Leuven Town Hall is simply a model of Gothic architecture. The exterior is decorated with gorgeous carvings that are so exquisite that you want to take a picture and post it on social media! What's even cooler is that there are 236 statues on the exterior walls, depicting various historical and religious figures. These statues were added in the mid-19th century, and the original plan was not so "luxurious"! - A closer look reveals that the front facade of the Town Hall is divided into three levels, each of which is beautifully decorated.
