Greek style in Central America - Standing on the roof of León Cathedral in Nicaragua

The Catedral de Leon in León, Nicaragua is the largest church in Central America and a world-class cultural heritage. Construction began in 1747 and was completed in 1814. It adopts an eclectic style of Baroque and neoclassicism, but the murals and exterior walls are full of strong Latin style. After seeing so many orthodox cathedrals in Europe, the Catholic architecture in Central and South America suddenly seems unique. The famous Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario is buried here, reportedly beneath the weeping lion statue in the picture. The most special thing about this church is that you can buy a ticket to climb to the roof of the church. We visited the interior of the church in the morning, walked around the city, and waited until dusk to buy tickets to climb onto the roof. Under the reflection of the setting sun, the layers of white roofs of buildings near and far are particularly beautiful and very easy to take pictures of.
