Chengzhai Ancestral Hall, Luqie Village, Leizhou, Guangdong.

The Chengzhai Ancestral Hall was built in the 5th year of the Xianfeng era of the Qing Dynasty (1855). It was built by Wang Mengling, the governor of the Caohe River in the Qing Dynasty, in memory of his grandfather Wang Dingzhang (also known as Pucun and Chengzhai). The hall faces south and is 44 meters wide and 39 meters deep, covering an area of 1,716 square meters. It has three entrances, five halls, and five courtyards, with a hard mountain top and brick, stone, and wood structure. There are currently 25 rooms. The first entrance is a two-story "three-platform" tower-style building, the courtyard is a garden-style layout, and there are two green stone pillars in front of the second entrance. The inner and outer walls are rich in murals and gray sculptures. The second and third entrances are connected by a worship pavilion, which is a through-bucket-style lifting beam structure. The third entrance is the main hall and the left and right side halls, with east and west verandas and courtyards. There are five Qing Dynasty inscriptions and a pair of stone drums in the hall. There are two 140-year-old begonia trees in the courtyard. This hall is one of the larger and higher-standard halls in Leizhou during the Qing Dynasty. Wang Dingzhang (Chengzhai Gong) was a tribute student in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and served as the county magistrate of Changshan County, Shandong Province. His family was known as a typical scholarly family in the Qing Dynasty, known as the "imperial examination, wealthy family". From Wang Dingzhang to his great-grandson Wang Chunyin, four generations produced nine county magistrates. Other descendants have served as prefects, tongzhi, county chiefs, historians, experiences, inspections, ambassadors, and instructors. His grandson Wang Mengling served as the governor of the Caohe River and the governor of the Jiangnan River, and was promoted to Ronglu Dafu (from the first rank). The hall is magnificent, uniquely laid out, and exquisitely crafted, with high scientific, artistic, and humanistic historical value. Wang Dingzhang's brilliant family history provides important historical materials for studying the imperial examination and official positions in the Qing Dynasty. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province.
